Visiting Papa At The Boat

Today we went to visit Papa at the boat which is docked at Metro Beach for the holiday weekend.

Cody slept through his first visit on the boat but the older boys played at the play ground, working off a little energy - I hope! They are hoping to go back tomorrow so Papa can take them to the water park.....

Here are a few pictures from the playground!

Bath Time

Tonight Cody recieved his first bath! Brenden, CJ and Kaiden waited all day and were very excited to help Cody get all clean. Cody was not so happy to take a bath but made it through! His big brother Brenden was sad that Cody was so upset and didn't like seeing him cry....

They boys were big helps and everyone did a great job at helping clean Cody and put lotion on him!

Cody wants his clothes back on!

Big helpers

All Clean and happy with my pj's on!

Cody's Story

I have decided that this blog would be the best way to keep everyone updated on ALL the boys! Now the challenge will be finding the time and energy to keep it updated but I promise to try my hardest!

Cody Kenneth Bayer was born August 13, 2008. He weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 21 inches long. He arrived at 2:41 p.m.

It was a very difficult last 2 months of pregnancy with him. Although he was healthy and doing well I was battling a few non threatening issues and was having difficulty moving around which is not allowed when there are 3 other little ones demanding everything!

I was visiting the doctor twice a week for the last 3 weeks of the pregnancy for Non-Stress tests for Cody, just to make sure he continued to be doing well. At 39 weeks I was supposed to be induced but was only dilated to 2 cm and with my history of LONG (14-15 hour) labors it was to much of a risk for the baby so we waited.....

On August 12, 2008 I went to my doctors and finally I was dilated to 3 cm BUT my doctor was not on call again until the 19th. At this point I was beyond miserable so she preformed a procedure that helps some woman start to dilate more and I went home. I took a short nap and was in a lot of pain so I called my doctor pretty much begging her to ask whichever doctor was on call if they would be willing to induce - 20 minutes later I received a phone call back saying to check into the hospital at 6:00 a.m. the next morning.....music to my ears!!!

Well Cody decided that was his cue....contractions started about 2:00 p.m. on the 12th and continue through the night, easing up on and off but keeping me on my toes. I held out until morning and at 5:30 my mother and I were off to welcome Cody into the world!

When I arrived at the hospital I was contracting regularly (and strong might I add) on my own but the doctor still decided to give me a little help. Once the drug was kicking we were on our way. I was settled in and ready for another long labor but Cody's Grammy was impatient and determined that it would be quicker (I still wonder if Cody was paid off by Grammy!) At about 11:30 a.m. I decided to have the nurse check dilatation so that I could get my epidural and start to rest and relax until it was time to push. As the doctor was checking me my water broke and at that point I knew I was ten minutes away for intense pain, EPIDURAL NOW PLEASE! Once that was in all was well! I was ready to take a nap but again Cody decided that was his cue. I was dilated to 4 at about 11:30 a.m. and at about 2:30 p.m. I informed the nurse that it was time to push - and at 2:41 he was here!

That is Cody's story of his journey into the world. Much shorter then the last 3 boys and as with the last 2 a very comfortable delivery. The doctor invited me to come back anytime since I was an easy one for her! I had to decline the invitation!

The next day Grammy brought Brenden, CJ and Kaiden to meet their new brother. They all fought over holding him and were very excited that he was here finally. The sang Happy Birthday to him and then inhaled a birthday cake on his behalf!

Cody and I came home on August 14th. His first night home was rough for both of us but slowly things are improving!
We have been home for just over a week and each day Cody seems to adjust slightly more.....he even lets me put him down now and then! He is well adjusted to the noise of his 3 brothers and has slept through them...THANK GOODNESS!
